3Why the high price?
By L. Da Vinci
I purchased these binoculars, thinking that the optics of the famous Carl Zeiss name and its high price would mean a top-of-the-line product.
I compared the Zeiss binoculars side by side to a much lower priced Olympus binoculars, both placed on tripods to do a fair comparison.
I looked at different subjects, close and far, bright and dark. I was surprised when I did not find any optical difference between these two binoculars, no difference at all. The Zeiss unit has a better finish, is lighter in weight and has a leather case, but in my mind, it's not worth an extra $300 compared to the Olympus binoculars.

5Very clear edge to edge image.
By AEinstein
I own and have tried several brands of binoculars.
One point about comparing optics - you must be outside to do any comparison. Looking through window glass negates the advantages that better optics might have. Any glass will cut down the amount of light, the contrast, and the clarity. The different coatings on optical glass will minimize the loss.

These have a unique way of 'folding up'. They fold up in a kind of an 'S' pattern as opposed to the normal inverted 'U' pattern. This makes them slightly more compact when folded.
As they are hinged to fold this way it puts the -focus- off centered on one of the 'hinges'. This may take a little getting used to but it's not difficult to use.

These have very good edge to edge sharpness and contrast compared to less expensive binoculars.
Of course whether you think the higher price is worth it depends on what you want to use them for and at what distances. For small objects at long distances where detail is required, these are hard to beat.
