By Bleating Pete
I own Leica 10x42 bins and some Bushnell Legends, which represent either end of the useful binocular scale. The Leicas have performed extremely well over the last 15 years, mostly used in high humidity areas in the tropics. No problem ever, and they represent probably the finest optics you can find. SO if you're looking through binoculars for a living - several hours a day, then do your eyes a favour and get the best. If you only use binoculars occasionally then there are other options. I work outdoors in the wildlife sector and carry binoculars every day and everywhere. I'm looking at birds every day, and often scanning the horizon out to sea. I'm taking them on the beach, through the rainforest, and most recently on extended hikes through the Rockies. Simply put, there is not a better binocular for the money than these Monarchs. They are extremely lightweight so you can carry them round your neck all day without strain, they are totally waterproof, and the optics are superbly crisp and look like a much more expensive model. Most of the wildlife people I know now carry these bins - mostly in 10x42, though some with 8x models. The next step up from these is the Leicas, and for the money you'd pay for them, you could have three pairs of Monarchs! These are very serious working binoculars for the professional and amateur at at incredible price. They are without fault.
