Vortex makes great binoculars at a good price. They make this same model in 6x and 8x. The 8x is a great glass, and Vortex probably sells a hundred 8x for every 6x, because everyone assumes that the more powerful a binocular is the better. But this is not necessarily so. If you have trouble holding binoculars steady, as many people do, you loose more resolution due to the shakiy image than you gain with a higher power. The higher the power, the more sensitive the binocular is the hand shake or vibration. I have chronically shaky hands. I can see much more detail with a 6 power binocular than I can with an 8 (I wouldn't even dream of using a 10!). Plus I don't get eyestrain or headaches from prolonged use.
As an extra bonus, you get a wider field of vision and closer focus distance (great for watching butterflies and other small, close up phenomena).
I've you've had trouble seeing through binoculars in the past due to the shaky image, give these a try - you will love them.
