5Excellent but not a huge improvement
By Fishing Dries
I really didn't know whether to give these a five or four star. I had them at home for a little while and was able to test them side by side against the Vortex Talons and the Nikon Monarch 5. Standing alone I would give these a five because of the their beautiful build, light weight and comfort. Their size is 'just right' in my opinion. The small footprint makes them easy to stow away. Also, the optics are very sharp, colors really pop out and the eye-relief is good for those who wear glasses like me.

My hesitance to give a five star arises from comparison. The ED glass does make a difference in comparison with the Monarch 5. Chromatic Aberration is minimized to the very discerning eye. However, I just don't think that the Monarch 7 is twice as good as the 5, it only edges it out. With this in mind I don't feel like price should be twice as much either. I must say that the Monarch 5 is very comparable in clarity.

Comparing the Monarch 7 and the Vortex Talon, they came out neck and neck in the optics department. They do differ significantly in weight and feel. These things are a matter of preference to the owner, though. Vortex has a heftier and durable feel. The Monarch 7 is a bit more ergonomic and light.

If money is not an issue then I would recommend the Monarch 7, you will not be disappointed. If you want the best bang for your buck then I would suggest getting the Monarch 5s or Vortex Talons.

One more thing I would recommend is, if possible, get the bino in hand and 'feel it out' before you make a purchase. Much of what makes a bino 'the best' is matter of personal preference.

5Top quality glass

These are some fantastic binoculars. Sharp image, great in low light, just the right size and weight, nice in the hand, waterproof. Just a really great set of binos Mine are used for deer hunting and they are great.

5Nikon Monarch 7 10X42 Binoculars 7549
By Skip Motes
I got these for the University of Miami football games! I have the older version that are a lot bigger. I like the fact that these are a lot smaller! But they are 10X42 same as my other pair! I really like that they are water proof! That is the only way I will buy a pair of Binoculars! I will use them when I go out to take some picture or any other sporting event! I have one friend that got a pair that wants to go bird watching! I Love Them!
